At 23:15 hours Engine 1 and Truck 1 were dispatched mutual aid to Calvert County for the reported house fire on Solomon’s Island.
Engine 11 and Truck 1 responded with a total of 10 volunteers.

Calvert station 3 units arrived on location finding a 3 story, type 5 house, balloon frame construction with heavy fire showing. Calvert Engine 3 advanced their attack line to side alpha of the structure and made a primary attack on division 1. St. Mary’s county units were the next 4 engine companies to arrive and operate.

Engine 11 arrived on location and proceeded to the fireground. Engine 11 deployed an 1 ¾ handline off of Calvert Engine 3 to side bravo/charlie. Engine 11 then went line over ladder, deploying their line on division 2 and knocking the fire. Engine 11 and Hollywood Chief 7 operated on division 2. It was noticed that there was still a good amount of fire in the attic area and division 3. Engine 11 re-deployed their attack line using an attic ladder to access the attic space.

Truck 1 was the 2nd arriving Truck Company and was assigned as that. Truck 1 took its positioning on the alpha/bravo corner. This was the best access for the Truck Company due to overhead power lines. Truck 1 placed its aerial ladder in service providing lighting from overhead. Truck 1’s crew then proceeded to place ladders on the charlie and delta sides of the structure, as well as placing numerous lights around the fire scene, in windows, and on all divisions. Truck 1’s crew then proceeded to division 2 to open up for Engine 11.

Crews returned to service around 0200hrs, Monday morning. The fire is still under investigation.
